The gateway stop for Desolation Sound, and one of the few places on the coast where the dock, the restaurant and the bed are the same address. Eighteen hundred feet of protected moorage for boats to 250 feet, gas and diesel on the dock, and accommodation running from lodge rooms and a harbour house to cottages and geodesic domes above the water. Rates step down hard outside July and August.

Getting there. Enter Gorge Harbour through the narrow rock gap on the south side of Cortes Island — the pictograph cliffs mark the passage and the channel is deep but tight, so run it dead slow and mid-gap. The marina opens up immediately inside on the north shore. Summer moorage is $2.25/ft under 80 ft and $3.50/ft over; shoulder and winter rates drop to $1.85 and $1.35. Always carry official charts and current Notices to Mariners.
